Donde Esta Eric

Thought I’d hammer out a quick post while I eat my lunch.
Well, lots of stuff has been going on these past few months…none of it has been training. Only recently has too much been going on to allow any real training time. The rest of the time, my lack of discipline has been the main culprit. I did run the Mercedes Half Marathon. Finished with a time of 2:50:03. I did a run/walk with my sister, Melissa. It was a fun day. I’m supposed to be having a guest blogger for that race report *cough Melissa *cough.
I’ve never been a great runner. I could run pretty good in high school, but thanks to Buffalo Connection, Mike & Ed’s, and Bud Light, that all changed in college. I’m wanting to try to focus on my running this season. If you look back at all of my race results from last year, you can see why. I’d be in the top or middle of my age group in swim times, bike times, and transition times but my run times were always towards the bottom. This is what we would call my “limiter.” So, this year, I don’t foresee me doing any tri’s longer than Olympic distance. The run portion in Oly’s is usually a 10k. There are some that go shorter, but 10k is usually where it’s at. This is a good distance for me. Until I can improve my mechanics and get under that 200 mark, I’d probably have to run/walk anything over 7-8 miles. I ran an 8k back on 4/2. I finished in 49:10 so right around 9:50 min miles. That’s not too bad for me. I’d love to get down to at least 7-8 min miles for this distance.
So here’s the plan…drop weight, get faster, lengthen runs, get faster again. Simple right?
Now for a favor…I’m going to need everyone to stay on my butt about this. At least until I get back in my groove. I got pretty spoiled after IMFL. I started sleeping past 500am every day. Before IM, I was up at 430 or 500 just about every day it seemed. There shouldn’t be any excuses for me not running. You can run anywhere as long as you have your shoes. Don’t worry, I’ll be working on swimming and biking too. It will be fun to see how overall fitness and ability in each discipline increases with a better run.
I’ll start being better about posting too. The blog was a good way for me to hold myself accountable. I guess I’ve rambled on enough. I hope that everyone has a wonderful Easter Weekend! The weather looks like it will be great for going to church and spending time with family. Take care!

Eric’s Clip of the Day: I think I’ve posted this before, but it still cracks me up
